Patient Identification, Model Policy
Release Date: February 10, 2010
While National Patient Safety Goal #1 calls for an overall improvement of patient identification, requirement 1A for this goal requires the use of at least two patient identifiers. Specimens must also be labeled in the presence of the patient. This document is a streamlined patient identification policy that simply addresses the "two patient identifier" issue as well as specimen labeling.
