Senator slams HHS for failure to implement Patient Safety and Quality Act of 2005
January 23, 2008Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) called out the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on January 17 for failing to implement The Patient Safety and Quality Act of 2005. Kennedy asked the Government Accountability Office in a letter why HHS has not implemented the regulation, which was passed by Congress almost three years ago.
The Joint Commission, American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, American Dental Association, American College of Surgeons, and American College of Physicians wrote to HHS, urging the Act to become final in a September 2007 letter.
