Survey: Physicians sometimes discount complaints of side effects

A recent survey of 650 patients shows that a majority believe their physician discounted their complaints of side effects from prescribed medication, according to a Washington Post article.
The survey, published in this month's Drug Safety, singled out side effects of statins but said the problem extends to other types of medications as well. When physicians ignore or dismiss complaints of side effects, they are most likely not going to report them, which can skew the Food and Drug Administration's review of the medication, according to the article.
