Study: Costs associated with CDAD climb substantially

Because incidence of Clostridium-difficile Associated Disease (CDAD) is on the rise, costs are also increasing substantially. Clinical Infectious Diseases, a publication in conjunction with the Infectious Diseases Society of America, has published a study on CDAD, noting that the costs to non-surgical patients who contract a CDAD increased the longer that patients could not combat a CDAD and rid themselves of it.The study, done by Washington University School of Medicine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, analyzed results from patients at a St. Louis, MO, hospital during 2003.
