QUEST program improves patient safety

Patient Safety Monitor Alert

December 1, 2010

Hospitals participating in Premier, Inc.'s healthcare alliance called QUEST®: High Performing Hospitals have saved an estimated 22,164 lives, according to a Premier press release.

QUEST participants observed mortality 5% lower than non-participants. The QUEST hospitals' data were compared to Medicare data. QUEST is a voluntary, three-year project that includes healthcare facilities from 34 states. QUEST participants and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement identified main problems that lead to death and errors and use evidence-based measures to improve. The participants also share best practices.
