Premier, Inc. and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have announced a partnership for predicting central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), reports Yahoo News. The two entities will together utilize an electronic evaluation tool to evaluate the potential for a patient to have a CLABSI.
Researchers will analyze positive blood cultures from patients at Premier hospitals. From there, the partnership will seek to determine if an electronic surveillance tool could predict the existence of a CLABSI. The initiative is also seeking to automate the reporting of CLABSI events to the National Healthcare Safety Network.
