January 30, 2008
Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell has put his "Prescription for Pennsylvania" into effect, reports The Patriot-News. Facilities were required to form infection control plans and submit them to the state by December 16, and then had two weeks to implement those plans. The state is reporting that nearly all hospitals have adhered to this December deadline. Rendell would like all hospitals to employ the use of an electronic monitoring system for tracking infection rates.
