PA physicians told they will have to pay more for malpractice insurance

Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania told physicians in the state they will be paying more for malpractice insurance unless state lawmakers come to an agreement concerning universal healthcare. Currently the state does not provide healthcare for all of its citizens and Rendell is trying to change that, reports The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. However, he is making many physicians unhappy by using their medical malpractice payments as leverage with lawmakers. Rendell has supported reducing malpractice payments in the past.Rendell is holding out for action on a bill that was passed last week that would provide healthcare to all PA citizens. If action is shown, physicians would receive reimbursements on their malpractice payments.
