NQF endorses framework for reporting adverse events

Patient Safety Monitor Alert

October 13, 2010

The National Quality Forum (NQF) has endorsed a framework for the public reporting of patient safety events, according to an NQF press release.

The framework will help standardize the approach to collecting information in order to improve healthcare quality by providing easy-to-understand public reports for consumers, providers, and healthcare systems.

Collecting safety data isn’t enough—it also needs to be compiled and presented in a way that helps consumers make informed decisions about their care and helps clinicians and healthcare systems learn from their experiences," said Janet Corrigan, PhD, NQF president and CEO.
