"Medical malls" a possibility for Maryland County

County Council members of Maryland's Prince George's County are contemplating the creation of medical malls, or at least filling empty stores in shopping malls into medical facilities, reports The Washington Post. The idea is to place medical facilities in locations where consumers would shop for other goods by utilizing older retail space. The initiative would create more than 1,200 jobs.
Financed by the public and private sectors, the proposal stresses that putting many medical services in one location would help patients coordinate their medical appointments. By having many services they need in one location, it would facilitate transportation and scheduling.
