Maryland Hospital Association to offer public education about MRSA
Patient Safety Monitor Alert
March 5, 2008
During March 2008, the Maryland Hospital Association (MHA) is sponsoring an education series for the public about how to prevent contracting a MRSA infection. MHA is providing tools and literature that hospitals in the state can use to host their own MRSA awareness sessions and roundtables for their area. These materials include talking points, press releases to publicize the event, sample newsletter articles, helpful Web sites to give to community members, and handouts. MHA staff will also be available to help facilities where they need it.The MHA has deemed MRSA prevention within the community to be very important. Many average citizens do not understand the difference between community-associated MRSA and hospital-acquired MRSA. The MHA is hoping these educational forums will help make citizens more aware of the infection.
