MO nurses speak out for better patient-to-nurse ratios

Nurses in Missouri were scheduled to appear before Missouri state legislators and argue that high patient-to-nurse ratios are creating higher health risks in the state's hospitals, according to press release by AFT Healthcare. The legislature is debating House bill 802, which would establish clear patient-to-nurse ratios for the state.
Mary Nash, RN, president of Nurses United for Improved Patient Care, was scheduled to speak about specific instances where poor staffing levels affected the care patients receive at the April 7 hearing. The organization represents three hospitals in Kansas City, MO.
