The Missouri Center for Patient Safety recently received a $254,000 grant from the National Council of State Nursing Boards to improve medical error reporting in Missouri, the Kansas City Star reported.

The grant will go to the Center's Just Culture Collaborative, which will fund the participation of up to 85 Missouri healthcare organizations and agencies. The program will examine the reasons for medical errors and encourage staff to report them.

Organizations that have agreed to participate in the program include Liberty Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. The program is open to healthcare facilities operating in the state, agencies that regulate Missouri health providers, and other Missouri-based healthcare-related organizations. The program will run through the end of 2008. Go to http://www.mocps.org for more information.
