MI safety commission to release findings to governor

The Michigan Health and Safety Coalition has completed a $75,000 study of healthcare in the state and plans to present Governor Jennifer Granholm with recommendations to improve patient safety, according to a Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation press release. The group provided the grant for the study.

The coalition was commissioned to study safety data from hospital, patients, and other medical providers. The resulting recommendations are expected to be released on June 30.

The goal is to find systematic cures to patient safety problems, said a representative for the coalition
