MGH RFIs outlined in newspaper

A Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) memo obtained by The Boston Globe outlines some of the requirements for improvement (RFI) assigned to the hospital by The Joint Commission. The hospital must improve its hand hygiene, medication reconciliation, and Universal Protocol compliance, among other issues.
The hospital will receive full accreditation from the Joint Commission. There were only 10 RFIs after the hospital went through the appeals process. Officials said they would make the Joint Commission report public when they received it.
The memo, written by MGH President Peter L. Slavin, MD, outlines the hospital's plan to address the RFIs. It also announced a new position, senior vice president of quality and patient safety, which will oversee the hospital's efforts in those areas.
