In some areas, nurses not finding jobs plentiful

Although there has been a much publicized nursing shortage in the US during the past decade, the economic downturn has created less of a demand for nurses, reports The Washington Post.
As many nurses approaching retirement age elect to stay in the workforce, and many nurses who had left the workforce rejoin for financial reasons, there are fewer vacant nursing jobs than in years past, leaving those nurses looking for work out of luck, in some cases.
Experts say that while this short time period of economic downturn may indicate that there is not an immediate demand for nurses, the underlying shortage will continue to exist as the US population grows and the Baby Boom generation ages.
