Hospitalists increasingly used in hospitals, coordinate care
Patient Safety Monitor Alert

Hospitals are the fastest growing medical specialty in the country, and the trend is not likely to go away, according to The Washington Post.
Although some primary care physicians remain concerned about the continuity of care for patients, hospitals have been accepted because of the time and money savings to physicians who no longer must trek to hospitals and check on patients. The hospitalists can also quickly respond to changing patient conditions and provide closer supervision, increasing patient safety, according to the Post.
