Healthcare leaders dissatisfied with current healthcare system

A study by the Commonwealth Fund has showed that most healthcare leaders are dissatisfied with the U.S.'s fee-for-service system. Sixty-nine percent of survey respondents said today's healthcare system discourages higher quality care and instead encourages physicians to administer more expensive care. Additionally, 55% of leaders said that bonus payments for high-quality providers of care and 53% said bonus payments for providers publicly reporting on quality of care would be effective in promoting improved performance.
A new bundled-care approach seems to be favored by hospital leaders instead of the current fee-for-service model. A majority (53%) of leaders said they would prefer a combination of these two models, while 23% said they would prefer solely a bundled model.
