A study of 10 U.S. healthcare facilities revealed that about one in five patients were injured while in the hospital.
The data was looked at from 2002 to 2007 and focused on 2,341 hospital admissions in North Carolina, reports The Boston Globe. Of those admissions, 18% of patients experienced either a small injury or a life threatening mistake. There were also 14 deaths. The study was published in the November 24 issue of New England Journal of Medicine.
