The first recipients of the H1N1 vaccine in the United States on Monday were healthcare workers in Indiana and Tennessee, reports the Washington Post. They received the vaccine via a nasal spray. The vaccinations marked the beginning of a campaign to vaccinate as many as 50% of the country's population—and that percentage could rise as the number of infections grows. About 40 million doses of the nasal spray will be available by the middle of October, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates.
