Consumer group says fewer disruptive physicians disciplined

A new report from Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, says that fewer "bad" doctors are disciplined. A HealthLeaders Media article reports that state agencies that license physicians are not doing their jobs of preventing patients from receiving substandard care. The number of serious actions taken against doctors was down 21.5% in 2008 from its peak rate in 2004.
