The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report yesterday detailing HAI reduction efforts, concluding that efforts to reduce central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) in particular have lowered rates by 18%, according to a HealthLeaders Media article.
The report was based on data submitted by hospitals in 17 states to the CDC’s monitoring system, the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). Much of the data comes from states that require their hospitals to submit infection-related data to the NHSN, and at the time the report was compiled there were 17.
