Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center has agreed to pay $1 million for dumping a homeless paraplegic man in Los Angeles' skid row, reports The Los Angeles Times. This settlement marks the largest in the city's effort to crack down on hospitals.
The hospital also will adopt new discharge rules and services for homeless patients and the $1 million will go to nonprofit groups that aid homeless patients. The hospital will be monitored by a former U.S. attorney for up to five years following this lawsuit.
