New research suggests that the use of aspirin before bypass surgery may help patients recover from the procedure, according to a brief in the Los Angeles Times.

Aspirin helps prevent clotting, which can lead to further complications. The results of the cited study conflict with the commonly-held belief that Aspirin, as a blood thinner, should be avoided before surgery.
