Time Out Day, an event proposed by AORN, has received the support of the American College of Surgeons and The Joint Commission.
The June 20 day is designed to raise awareness of surgical time outs, which can help reduce the chance of errors during a surgical procedure, according to an AORN press release. This is the fourth year AORN has observed the event.
Time outs are an integral part of The Joint Commission's Universal Protocol on "Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure, Wrong Person Surgery."
