AHRQ releases version 1.0 of Common Formats

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has released version 1.0 of its Common Formats. Replacing version 0.1 beta, this updated version of the Common Formats incorporates feedback from the public, provider organizations, and healthcare associations. The Common Formats are standardized methods for collecting and submitting data concerning a patient safety event. They were developed with the formation of Patient Safety Organizations in 2008, which was a byproduct of the 2005 Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act.
The AHRQ worked with the National Quality Forum to solicit feedback and develop the latest version of the Common Formats and will continue to do so during the coming year for further refinement.
